Description: | Information
for elaboration of the project
Character of the project Comprehensive design is a two semester course. The task of the first semester – Comprehensive design I – is the elaboration of the projects program design, Comprehensive design II is for the detailed elaboration of the design. During this one has to acquire the method to develop concept to technical solution. This phase of architectural design is a primary condition of feasibility of any building. A perfect concept can only become a successful work through the careful, technically correct, aesthetic forming and elaboration of the details. Forming details requires high degree of professional knowledge, advanced aesthetical sense, holistic creative skills and realistic economic approach. To acquire the methods of this complicated activity only on basic level intensive utilization of the study period is necessary. The project has to be improved on the base of critics on the Comprehensive design I of the departments. The projects can be improved in terms of architecture as well with the possible presenting of the original concept.
Work process First the preliminary designs should be completed due to the given schedule (scale m=1:100, m=1:50) from every part of the design. The plans should be presented within the terms due to time schedule. This will be followed by the elaboration of details, finalization of constructions. The elaboration of the final project can be fulfilled using the details and the result of consultation with the associate departments. Certain to be solved tasks will be pointed out and evaluated by the consulting associate departments.
Evaluation In the mark of the final project architecture counts 40%, whereas the associate departments 15-15% each. Any part of the project is fail, the mark of the whole project is fail too. The final mark is given from the final project and the results of the comprehensive tests – due to the faculty’s regulation.
Deadlines The project submission is due to the faculty’s regulation and enclosed timetable. To the successful fulfilment the certain parts of the project must be handed in, or presented.
Content of the plans The plans should be filled with a maximum of technical content based on the solution of the details. We mainly expect the elaboration of more complicated parts of the building, with the solution of development and building together of bearing structures, of façade details and situating constructions of building services determining the architectural look.
Parts of the project to submit
with representation the close surroundings, the main and particular dimensions, grid, the measures of each room, doors with opening direction, windows with subdivisions, marking the functional necessary installation, the names, measures and finishes of the rooms. In case of a greater establishment - checked by the consultant - the elaboration of a certain part of the building is enough.
3. Sections m=1:50 The number of sections to submit depends on the variety of constructions and the complexity of the building. The solutions of constructions of each main volume of the building should be shown. Also in case of a block-like building, or unified construction at least 2 sections perpendicular to each other are necessary, (without the repetitive constructions) with representation the typical height measures and the plan measures of the axis, the level heights, the names of the structures and materials, the order of layers
4. All elevations m=1:50 with representation of structures (different levels signed with short dashed lines), the typical height measures, materials, colours. In case of a greater establishment - checked by the consultant - the elaboration of a certain part of the building is enough.
5. Interior plan m= 1:20, 1:10, 1:5 The solution of a characteristic, architecturally demanding room (eg. foyer), construction details floor plan, cladding plan of the internal walls, built-in furniture, equipments, plan of suspended ceiling with light and ventilation elements Perspective views of the interior.
6. Architectural description, showing the context of architectural and construction solutions. It should contain data not seen on the plan, demanded explanations for construction, working principles of structures, motivation of material and structure choices.
7. Parts of design and descriptions of structures, building constructions, building services, construction technology due to requirements of each associate department.
8. Other parts of design. Beyond these parts of design consultants may ask for solution of special details – depending on the character of the task.
9. The plans of Comprehensive design I are to submit in a separate folder.
Test For practice planning skills and architectural, logical way of thinking there is one compulsory design tests during the semester. Since all necessary information will be given for completing the test, there is no need for previous preparation. The mark of the test counts 15% in the final mark of the course.
Other regulations, obtaining the final mark and the signature: A./ Formal requirements: All drawings can be traditional hand- or CAD drawings or any other optional official scaled printed technique. The clear and correct technical presentation detailed due to the scale is important. The mid-term and final plans the can be handed in at biggest 60x80 cm, or folded to that size, or can be accepted as a documentation folded on A4 size. The dimensions are bound for storing and exhibition reasons. Smaller size can be used as well, but the use of different size plans destroys the level of the documentation. A stable cover due to the plans dimensions with index is necessary. The elaboration of the plans should be discussed with the consultant. B./ Participation in 70% of the lessons is set as a condition. Only the active practice counts for presence. In case of absence from more than 30% of the total number of lessons the credits of the subject cannot be obtained. Design practice lessons due to the Code of Studies and the Faculty’s supplementary decisions are considered as irreplaceable atelier practice. C./ By the deadline due to the timetable the final project must be handed in – irrespectively of its readiness. D./ One test with at least a pass mark. The 1st test is obligatory. E./ The project submission is due to the faculty’s regulation and enclosed timetable. In the mark of the final project architecture counts 40%, whereas the associate departments 15-15% each. Any part of the project is fail, the mark of the whole project is fail too. The final mark is given from the weighted average of the final project and the results of the mid-term presentations.
